research experience
The Effect of Washington's 2021 Capital Gains Tax on Wealth Migration
, Jun. 2026 โ Jul. 2026
- Estimated the causal effect of Washington's 7% capital gains tax on high-income out-migration in 2021
- Built a synthetic control unit via a differences-in-differences design, matched on Washington's low-income migration pre-trends
- Found statistically significant evidence, via permutation placebo test, of moderate high-income out-migration caused by the tax
TheoremGraph: Bridging Formal and Informal Mathematics
UW Math AI Lab, Seattle, WA Mar. 2026 โ Jun. 2026
- Built a database of 11.8 million mathematical theorems and their 18 million dependencies from informal sources
Semantic Search over 9 Million Mathematical Theorems
UW Math AI Lab, Seattle, WA Sep. 2025 โ Mar. 2026
- Built a semantic search engine over 9.2 million mathematical theorems using a vector embedding pipeline and AWS infrastructure
- Accepted to the 2026 ICLR Workshop on LLM Reasoning
The Stability of Okun's Law Across Time and Space
, Aug. 2025
- Examined how Okun's Law changed in the U.S. across recession periods and states using 2005โ2025 data with R
- Found no evidence of coefficient heterogeneity across recession periods, and only weak evidence across states
So Long Solow? An Empirical Study of the Efficacy of Solow Growth Models
University of Washington, Seattle, WA Dec. 2025
- Analyzed how well the Mankiw-Romer-Weil Solow growth model captures economic dynamics of the U.S., Japan, and Germany from 1950โ2023 with Python
- Found that a SINDy-driven model outperformed those with constant or time-varying exogenous parameters
Statistics Directed Reading Program
Department of Statistics, University of Washington, Seattle, WA Sep. 2025 โ Dec. 2025
- Studied econometric causal estimators under faculty mentorship, with emphasis on identification strategies and their theoretical foundations
- Delivered a 15-minute presentation on the instrumental variables estimator applied to a job training program efficacy study
